Illustrating your ideals

Choose any special term from your field of work or study; then, in two to four pages, define it so every-body in your class can understand it clearly. Be sure to choose a term most people in the class aren’t already familiar with—the challenge is to communicate something you know to an audience that doesn’t know it. • Use at least one illustration. If you take an illus-tration from another source, be sure to document it. Then include another illustration that you think of yourself.

  • Weave your illustration into your text. That is, be sure to introduce and explain it.
  • Use a grammar checker and attach the results. • Make the format a memo to the class.
  • Remember to use a Plain English style and good layout. Be sure to put your main point up front
