Identify and determine the chain link for bicycle and motorcycle power transmission

You need to identify and determine the parts’ design parameters in your projects such as size,
speed, operating temperature, operating environment, applied load or stress, rigidity, cost,
reliability, tolerances, materials, processing, etc. Therefore, you should consider an average real life application of each part in your project settings and then estimate the parameters. The required
information can be acquired via library methods, relevant codes/standards/regulations, and digital
methods, which must be cited in your report (provide the references in your report). Computer
modeling/finite element analysis is not required for this project.

Therefore, a report detailing the design procedure and analysis must be submitted. The report
should be five to ten pages, excluding front matter and appendices. All of the following are suitable
for inclusion in the report.

 aspects of design philosophy

 aspects of the PEO Code of Ethics

 detailed drawings, free body diagram, plans (handwriting)

 analysis to estimate the strength, the state of stress, stress concentration areas, the factor of safety (handwriting)

 if cycling load is applied and fatigue failure is a possibility, consider the required design
parameters and methods

 failure analysis and discussion

 preliminary sketches (Appendix)

You could find a chain link on mcmaster.com. Please let me know which chain link for this report you would like to choose.
