The paper is the Twelfth Night story by Shakespeare.
Refer to the syllabus for information on the required Term Paper. It has suggested
themes, and there are related possible topics below, each with several characters. It
would also be possible to focus on one of the major characters (Viola, Olivia, Sir
Toby, Orsino, Feste, or Sir Andrew primarily) and analyze it through its thematic
relationships.
Use your library account to access acceptable research materials – scholarly,
academic, peer-reviewed. The easiest to obtain are articles from English journals,
but these are commonly written by professors for professors, and can be hard going
even if you are one. There are some useful general (or less technical) studies, notably
the volume in the Twayne’s Authors series (Shakespeare: Comedies), D.A. Traversi’s
Approach to Shakespeare, C. L.Barber, WalterKing, Clifford Leech, Harden Craig
and others. There will be more on this.
