It talks about how Portugal got into exploration, Portuguese explorations of the African coast, Vasco De Gama, the Treaty of Tordesillas, discovery of the route to India, and the trade the Portuguese did. It gives a lot of detail and I can use this information throughout my research paper.

This pdf file talks about reasons for the Age of Exploration, how Portugal began the Age of Exploration and Europe’s colonization of the Americas. The source also gives information of how the explorations affected Portugal and Europe in general. I can use this source mainly when writing about the reasons of exploration and its effects on Europe
3. Henry the Navigator

This source is only about Prince Henry the Navigator and his life. It is very detailed and explains how Prince Henry led Portugal to exploration of Africa and how he took place in the Age of Exploration. I will use this information in mostly in the beginning of the research paper when writing about how Portugal entered exploration.

This long and detailed source is about how Portugal started the Age of Exploration and the different explorers of Portugal. It gives background information and talks about Prince Henry the Navigator, many different explorers, the Treat of Tordesillas, and how exploration it affected Portugal. I can use this information throughout my research paper.

1. Vasco da Gama: Round Africa to India, 1497-1498 CE

This primary source was written by Vasco de Gama and describes his travels and ecounters during his travel to Asia. It talks about how he rounded the Cape of Good Hope and how he was in conflict with the people in Calicut. This is a long and useful source and I will use it in my research paper when I am writing about Vasco de Gama.
2. Fifteenth-Century Slave Trade:The Portuguese in West Africa(1455-1456) Alvise da Cadamosto

This is a primary source written by Alvise de Cadamosto who was a venetian explorer that helped the Portuguese by charting coastal Senegal and Gambi for them in voyages. The source talks about the trade that the Portuguese had with the Muslims of Africa and the slave trade. This can be used when talking about how the Portuguese took part in the slave trade and how they traded with the Arabs.
3. The Treaty of Tordesillas

This website has background information on the Treaty of Tordesillas and has the complete translated treaty. This treaty is the agreement between Portugal and Spain and divided the newly discovered lands outside of Europe between the two countries. I will use this source when describing the Treaty of Tordesillas in my research paper.
