(Hypothesis Tesiting
Suppose you are a data scientist for a reputed company that makes tires for cars. Your fellow engineers have come up with a new tire that they claim provides more mileage to cars. You are tasked with designing an experiment that provides the answer to the claim by your fellow engineers. You also know that the existing tires are rated for 60,000 kilometers.
- Discuss your proposal for the experiment and what data you want to collect. Be explicit about what you need so that you can make a valid conclusion, and be reasonable so that you don’t spend a lot (tesst groups sometimes are budget constrained).
- Describe your null and alternate hypothesis.
- Discuss your test method, tesst statistic and the significance level of your tesst. Discuss your choices.
- Discuss the criteria for choosing the claim your fellow engineers made.
