Reply Post: Respond to two other students’ posts. Try to respond to someone you haven’t responded to previously.

First one is :

I work at Music City which is a family owned business. It’s hard to find qualified people even when just filling one position, especially when the unemployment rate is low. I observed several different methods that the owners used to find qualified applicants. They used internet postings to try to get the word out about a sales position. This can be difficult however because while they did receive a good amount of responses, the applicants’ qualifications were rarely up to par. The most effective methods to recruit applicants turned out to be word of mouth and simply putting “Salesperson Wanted” on the electronic sign in front of the store. Employees and piano teachers renting studios helped by giving referrals and spreading the word about a sales position. This was a very effective way to attract qualified people with industry experience. A surprisingly high number of people applied for the position just from reading “Salesperson Wanted” on the sign. I think in the case of smaller companies that operate locally, more personal means of recruiting are most effective because applicants are more often than not going to come from the community that the business operates in. One on one interactions with people can be very useful.

Another creative way to recruit people is to go directly to colleges because college students are ready to enter their job fields and can be recruited right from the start. Recruiting recent college graduates or students close to graduating as applicants may increase the applicant pool and make it easier to fill positions. Having internships or job positions available to students who have not yet graduated college but will be is a good way to get positions filled and have employees trained and ready to work right away after graduation.

Second one :

Incentives are always a great way to recruit new applicants. If you give an incentive to someone to go out and recruit someone, then they are more likely to do that. Also giving the person being recruited an incentive as well would really help because it gives them either a little extra money or gives them the feeling that they are wanted and worth the incentive.

Another way to recruit is to use word of mouth. A simple email or text message to current employees to go out and recruit for new open positions is easy and quick. If an employee is already employed and keeping their job, they are obviously doing a good job. I’ve always been told you become like the 5 closest people you hang around. Therefore, you are really hiring people of the same likeness which is what you are usually looking for.

Social media is also another way to recruit new employees. A large number of the work force uses social media. If you can get people to post and share job openings at your workplace then the chance of getting a response is rather high. I see ads daily on Facebook and Twitter and also see people posting and sharing their companies openings as well. Social media is extremely powerful and popular and widely used so it is a great way to get the news of job openings out there.
