The college has a tool called Career Coach that can help you specify which career fields you should be considering according to your strengths and preferences. Go to the Career Coach site (opens in new tab) and click on “Take Career Assessment” and then choose the detailed 60 question assessment. - Once you have completed the assessment:
- Consider what sub-discipline in health and human services you are planning to go into as a career after you graduate this program.
- Consider at least 2-3 other sub-disciplines in health and human services besides the one you are interested in. You may have to look up examples online, because guaranteed, there are more sub-disciplines than you realize (i.e. healthcare compliance, skilled nursing facility administrators, health program managers, public health professionals, case managers, health navigators, patient experience managers, clinical quality managers, social workers, mental health counselors, medical device sales, maternal and child health specialists, physician credentialing specialists, medical billing or accounting, health educators, self-employed entrepreneurs, lab techs, health researchers, registrars, etc… the list goes on and on).
- Answer the following questions in a post of 150-175 words:
- What area of health and/or human services do you currently work in or would like to work in?
- What type of leader do you see yourself as, and how does that help you in this field?
- Based on the career assessment you took, list 2-3 alternative career paths or sub-disciplines that seem like they would be a good fit for you. Explain whether or not you are willing to consider pursuing these alternative options and why.
