I was excited to start this course, and I have been excited throughout; it has been fun. All the resources and tools, especially the course reading and accessing other peer-reviewed materials from the library, have been beneficial to reaching the goals that I discussed in unit one.
Of all the course outcomes, I have been fascinated and learned the most from HS320-4: Discuss principles of microbial genetics in health science. I am fascinated by plasmids and how they confer genes, especially antibiotic resistance genes in bacteria (Pommerville, 2017). I am also fascinated by bacteriophages and how they encode toxin genes and other virulence genes to a bacterium’s chromosome (Pommerville, 2017). And I am excited about the use of plasmids and bacteriophages as vectors in genetic engineering (Pommerville, 2017). I plan to continue learning about and doing more research on microbial genetics in the future.
Lastly, I would like to thank all my classmates and the professor for providing valuable insights throughout this course. I have gained knowledge through our interactions and wish you the best in your future endeavors. I wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a great New Year, Nathan.

Good evening professor and class,
In reflection of this class and the goals that I set forth, I think that the class has met all my expectations. I think that I have made the most improvement is the immune system’s role in defense against microbial diseases and immune disorders. I think that my prior and knowledge from my current profession and the reinforcement of the knowledge I have from the lessons have helped me a lot. I believe the discussion boards and the unit 9 assignment have helped me the most with the course outcomes. The unit 9 assignment mostly because it was an assignment over time which gave me time to truly understand the topic.
Microbiology can be difficult to digest sometimes, but Professor Moench does a great job at breaking down the topics for us during the seminar. Thank you for the class and I wish everyone the best of luck.
