What is the best moral system?
(By what method should a person come to realize his life?)
Plato’s ideas held sway over 1,500 years. Then it was Aristotle, the scientist’s, turn — the Renaissance. We now live and believe the forms of Aristotle, if not the substance.
Aristotle’s The Nicomachean Ethics – The foundation of modern ETHICS
“If it is in our power to act nobly, it is also in our power to do evil.”
“Freedom is obedience to self-formulated rules.”
“The beauty of the soul shines out when a man bears with composure one heavy mischance after another, not because he does not feel them, but because he is a man of high and heroic temper.”

(Admit it: that is pretty cool.)
But, you have to give the other early ethical thinkers — Epicurus, Democritus, Confucius, even Pythagoras — attention
INQUIRY: Pick one of the basis of moral life and argue for it as the method a person should come to realize his life:
~~Aristotle = Teleological Ethics — Intentions and Consequences — Happiness
~~Plato = Deontological Ethics — Rules and Duties — Morals are Forms
~~Epicurus and Democritus — Normative Ethics — Pleasure Principle
~~Confucius = Standards and behaviors in society
