Please post a thoughtful response to one of your colleagues’ postings. A thoughtful response means adding value to the colleague’s posting by sharing anything that you believe may contribute to her or his success when implementing the Quadrant II activity identified.
Colleagues Response:
Quadrant II is the heart of effective personal management” and is not urgent, but is important (Covey, 2016). It includes things such as exercising, because it is important but we don’t often get around to doing it, because it is not time sensitive or urgent (Covey, 2016). Exercising can be a quadrant I activity if there is a medical need or an urgency to exercising that exists. For me, it is a quadrant II activity as it is not time sensitive or urgent but is important for my physical and mental health. When I exercise I have more energy, I feel better, I have more motivation, I sleep better, and I am more healthy overall. Time often keeps me from doing this activity and the fact that it is not time sensitive or urgent, which means I often will push it back or focus on other things instead that are more pressing or urgent (Covey, 2016). I have had gym memberships and used them occasionally, but have fallen for the extra snooze on my alarm or choosing not to go because it was too cold, too early, too far, or I was too tired. For me to commit to exercising, I would need to make it a priority and set up systems in place to ensure that it stays a priority and does not fall to the back burner. I could set more alarms, get more sleep, create a pattern, and get accountability partners to help sustain exercising. I am willing to commit to this because I know it will help my mental and physical health now and for the future. It is important that I make time to take care of myself and I know that this will impact my health, wellness, sleep, and overall self.
