- B. What was the social/ political/ cultural status of the writer?
- Would there be any points of agreement between the two?
- How do the writers understand the role of Islam in public life?
- What kinds of evidence or arguments do they use to make their cases?
- A. For example, do they use the Koran/Quran, personal history, and/or modern events to support their side of the debate? If so, how?
- To whom might the authors’ views be most appealing? Who might oppose them?
- According to both authors, what are the major points of conflict between Islam and Western values?
- A. Are the authors’ views of Western society accurate, romanticized (idealized), or deglamorized (belittled/ deprecated)?
