This week we will be discussing the topics of World War I and its immediate aftermath. Please select one of the instructor provided questions below. Feel free to expand your answers and not be constrained by the questions.
Use the variety of sources available to you/assigned for the course, including at least 1 primary source with analysis in any of your postings. You may use an assigned primary source or another source you located that is relevant to your topic. You may also include academic outside sources in addition to assigned course readings. A minimum of 250 words must be posted in your answer to the question you choose to answer.
Questions:
-Compare and contrast World War I with World War II. Do you think this was the same war with a long pause? Why or why not?
-How did the causes of war and the style of warfare of World War I influence what type of treaty the Germans signed after the war? How did this treaty differ from Woodrow Wilson’s “Fourteen Points”? Considering the perspectives of the British, French, and Germans, do you conclude the final treaty was fair or unfair? Why?
-Discuss the role of women in World War I, Interwar Period, and World War II. What was the experience and influence of women? How did the place of women compare between the US and USSR?
-What were the long-term and short-term causes of the Russian Revolution? How did World War I influence both the initial revolution and the conclusion/final outcome of the Revolution? How did the Revolution influence the course of World War I, or did it not?
