John C. Calhoun of South Carolina was one of the most influential defenders of slavery during the mid-1800s.Read this speech he gave in the Senate in 1837, and write a 500- to 1000-word essay that shows how Frederick Douglass in his Narrative (from our Week 4 readings) undermined at least two of Calhoun’s arguments in favor of slavery. Make sure you offer examples from each reading in order to effectively show how Douglass proved Calhoun’s arguments to be wrong.
