Now that you’ve had some time to share and read other students’ ideas about the essay topic, I’d like you to draft and upload a preliminary outline–just the basic structure–of your essay.
To develop your outline and Unit 1 Essay, choose one of the assigned readings for class (Beowulf: The Graphic Novel, “Zlateh the Goat,” or “Scheherazade”) which will help you explain Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero’s Journey .
Directions
Please write the thesis and topic sentences of your essay–no paragraphs, just sentences. State the main argument and the topic sentences for the body paragraphs of your essay. Keep in mind that the thesis will drive all decisions made about the content of the essay, and the topic sentences will guide and limit your decisions about the content of the paragraphs.
When considering the points to address in the body of the essay, focus on at least four steps–not the 3 general stages–of the Hero’s Journey.
