Language Development Timeline
After reading Chapter 4 of Introduction to Communication Disorders: A Lifespan Evidence-Based Perspective, complete the following two-part assignment:
- Part One: Provide the document or the link of your timeline, using Microsoft Word or a free timeline software, such as Time Toast. The timeline must include:
- At least ten significant milestones that define children’s language development from birth to 18 years.
- A one-sentence explanation which signifies the relevance of the event.
- Part Two: Write a two- to three-page summary of your timeline. In your summary:
- Describe how socio-cultural factors can affect achievement of milestones of language development.
- Summarize an application of each milestone to methods utilized in intervention supporting children at varied levels of language development.
- Compare typical language development in your timeline with two communicative impairments.
The summary must be two to three pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. You must utilize at least three scholarly sources (at least two of which must be found in the Ashford University Library) other than the textbook to support your claims and subclaims.
