Chapter 03 The Integumentary System
In addition to anticipating needs for equipment to diagnose, and treat the conditions, you also have to be able to communicate clearly with the physician in medical terms and understand his or her language as he or she communicates with you and the patient about the etiology and structure of the condition. You will then need to document the medical history and treatment and communicate clearly with the patient about the treatment of the condition and the prognosis.
- Use roots, combining forms, suffixes, and prefixes to construct and analyze medical terms related to the integumentary system.
- Spell and correctly pronounce medical terms and their plurals related to the integumentary system.
- Define accepted abbreviations for the integumentary system.
- Relate integumentary anatomic structures.
- Describe disorders of the integumentary system.
- Apply medical terms to documentation, medical records, and medical reports.

Chapter 04 The Skeletal System
In order to work with physicians and to give optimal care to patients and to help the patient’s family understand the significance of the condition you will need to be able to use correct medical terminology to:
- Use roots, combining forms, suffixes, and prefixes to construct and analyze medical terms related to the skeletal system.
- Spell and pronounce correctly medical terms related to the skeletal system to communicate them with accuracy and precision in any health care setting.
- Apply your knowledge of the medical terms of the skeletal system to documentation, medical records, and medical reports.
- Translate the medical terms of the skeletal system into everyday language in order to communicate clearly with patients and their families.
