One of the iconic figures of the 18th century was Beethoven, a musician who overcame a major obstacle–deafness–to succeed. Other artists and musicians fought their own battles, experiencing religious, gender, or racial discrimination.
For this assignment, I would like for you to research the life of an artist, writer, or musician who overcome obstacles to succeed. The person you select can be someone from earlier in history or someone still alive today. Tell me, in paragraph one, about the life of the artist, writer, or musician you chose and what types of obstacles they overcame. In paragraph two, tell me your favorite artwork, writing, or composition by that person. How does it reflect their struggles?
