Nursing care and the profession continues to evolve as many nurses are advancing their studies and working to the level of their studies. Public health nursing is based on community over all health, and often work in offices, private health insurances. Their jo description is based on group rather than individuals to identify health risks in communities or patient homes, schools, and other places where public health concern may occur. The roles include providing counseling on make effective healthy change, providing health education giving the patients the power to make an informed decision (“Self care deficit” 2020).
There are some nursing theories that public health nurse as a model of care to improve nursing practice while maintaining the state and federal laws, one of such models is Orem Self-care deficit model. This theory is developed by Dorothea Orem with a concept of self-care. The theory is the action of helping others in providing self-care management to maintain or improve an individual functioning power to effectively manage self.
