The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) is what helped to bring about change and start the use of EHR (electronic health record). The facilities were given incentives to implement EHR systems. The EHR systems encompassed health information and data, results management, order entry management, decision support, electronic communication and connectivity, patient support, administrative processes, and reporting and population management. (DeNisco et al., 2016) When incorporating the EHR, it should make it easier and beneficial to the health care team to have all information in one spot. This should also help diminish errors. While most have implemented the use of EHR, there are still ways we are learning how to have this be a tool that can help the healthcare team. At times, it can require multiple different programs, or different facilities may not be able to communicate with one another. This makes the argument that technology is not always to our benefit, but I believe the benefits outweigh the downfalls
