For this first writing exercise, you will conduct some preliminary research and decide on the specific topic of your final paper. The topic area is broad – any social injustice relating to sexual or gender diversity – so you will need to narrow your focus to fit the scope of a 7-8 page paper.
NOTE: Please read the Final Paper Instructions before writing this exercise.
In completing this assignment, please describe in one page what you are going to research and write about for your final paper. In doing so, be sure to explain
1) the social injustice issue that you are focusing on;
2) how it pertains to gender or sexual diversity; and
3) why this social injustice is an important issue to address.
Please include at least two citations from your preliminary research to support your ideas.
You do not need to formulate a thesis statement in this first writing exercise, as you will be doing this in Writing Exercise #2. Instead of thesis statement, consider developing one or two research questions. These research questions will not be graded but they will help you frame your thesis statement.
Remember that you will receive feedback on each exercise, which you are expected to consider when writing the final paper.
