I found this article to be extemely enjoyable to read. The concept of Glocalization is super important for businesses today. I personally love looking into the glocal failures and how they recovered from that. I found it very interesting how they mentioned starbucks multiple times. Today they are a very well globalized company that is very sucessful, but it hasn’t been very long since they greatly failed. They attemped to copy and paste all of the shops into other counties. Austrialia in particualr was a major failure for starbucks. After this, they learned so much. They learned that it is essential to do great details of customer research. Not everyone want a to go cup of coffee that is extemely sweet. That is really only common in the United States. I believe that as a company Starbucks learned so much from this failure and fully understood the importance of glocalization. We can see this by looking into what they did in Italy a few years later.
I loved that they mentioned that it is important to make sure your slogan is translating in the best way possible. One of the biggest failures I have hear of with this is the Chevy Nova in Mexico. In spanish this mean doesn’t go and who would want to buy a car with that name. Overall glocal is a very important concept for businesses to keep in mind today.

“they need to find a way of maintaining the inherent values and “essence” of their brand, while adapting to local trends”. This quote really stuck out to me. To me this quote is very important, because as a sales person in the sales world you have to adjust each and every approach, conversaition, etc when you go to talk to new and differnt people, while still trying to reach the same end goal of selling your product. This article talks about how Starbucks in China serves tea, and KFC serves a duck burger. These businesses adopted to what the environment wanted. This reminds me of a time I was in Mexico and I went to a McDonalds and they only served chicken in that location. Succesful comapanies that go global are succesfull for that reason. They find a way of maintaining the inherent values and “essence” of their brand, while adapting to local trends. glocalisation is all about adapting to the needs and wants of the consumers and is a very important part of a business going global and selling to different markets.
