OUTLINE AND ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
The writer who will be employing metaphor to talk about the art. When we talk about visual art we necessarily resort to metaphor,Your outline will consist of a thesis statement followed by your major points and supporting arguments which you will subsequently develop into an essay. Please also cite at least four references in your annotated bibliography – Chicago Format.
A common thread in our reading has been that of relation, whether Glissant’s theory of a poetics of relation, Paul Chan’s publishing and community engagement, or Bal’s invocation of the fold to subvert the dualism of subject and object (in the attachment). To give expression to these relations metaphors have been coined. What metaphors would be helpful in writing about the relationship between an artist’s work and its audience? Please refer to two artworks (historical or contemporary) as examples in formulating your response.
