Compare or contrast the role or understanding of truth or gender in your two chosen works. You are free to create any argument you wish, so long as it is relevant to one of the two topics.
Often, an easy way to create an argument is to make a case for one work’s approach as more effective or convincing (for example: you would choose one work that presents truth as objective and vital and another work that presents truth as illusory and irrelevant and then explain why one work is more effective than the other). Of course, there are other ways to construct your argument. You might, for example, argue that spy novels gradually increase the role and importance of women in the genre as the number of women readers of spy novels increases. Or you might argue that the “detective” character is naturally gendered male and the “spy” character naturally gendered female. Whatever argument you make, you should support it with evidence in the form of a few quotations from your chosen works.
