List one of the sources you’ve selected in your research so far. (Don’t stress about MLA or APA at this point – we’ll discuss formatting next week. Just do what you can to make the entry presentable. Include the title, author, and date of publication at a minimum.)
Beneath the source entry, answer these questions:
What’s a brief summary of the source? (Keep it very brief – maybe two or three sentences. Focus on the major topics and themes explored.)
What is the main argument put forward in this source?
How credible and appropriate is the source? Is the content potentially outdated? Is it bias-free, or is there a clear agenda on display?
How might you use this source for your Advocacy Letter? (Examples may include, “general knowledge and background information on the topic,” “evidence of the group of people who potentially have decision-making authority over the issue,” “useful examples or statistics,” “support for your own intended argument,” or even “perspectives from an opposing side that add nuance to your analysis.” Provide as much detail as you can.)
