For the Essay, you are going to choose a genre of music to write on. You may choose a specific genre
(country, rock n’ roll, R&B, and so on) OR you may choose Popular music as a whole. You must write on
how it has evolved since the 1950s. You may use a modern genre, BUT you must be able to trace it back
to the 1950s.
Here are the requirements:
-You must write about your genre from EACH DECADE
-You must choose TWO (2) Bands/Artists from each decade
- Write about their musical background
- Their top hits from the decade
- How they contributed/impacted the decade with their music
- How the genre changes from decade to decade
-Did the style change? - What new innovations were added to the genre?
-What new subgenres emerged in each decade, if any?
The essay must be two full pages, at least. The essay needs to be typed.
