GCU Clinical Field Experience E Cross Curricular Lesson Effectiveness Paper

Math is used throughout our days and in many contexts. Integrating other content areas into your math lessons or math into other content area lessons helps students see how we use math in our everyday lives in a variety of situations.

Observe a cross-curricular math lesson taught by your mentor teacher or another teacher at your field experience site. Following the observation, discuss the following questions with the teacher:

  • How did you decide what content area to integrate into your math lesson?
  • How did the content you integrated support the math concepts in your lesson?
  • How did your cross-curricular lesson meet the needs of diverse learners in your classroom?
  • How do you know that your lesson was effective?

Use any remaining field experience hours to assist the teacher in providing instruction and support to the class.

Following the discussion, write a 250-500 word reflection summarizing the cross-curricular lesson you observed and the discussion with the teacher. How effective do you feel the lesson was? Are there any changes you would make? How will you apply what you have learned through this experience to your future professional practice
