Directions

For your Initial Post due by Thursday 11:59 PM:

You must post at least once with your initial thoughts on the theory. You will also state your intelligence strength and weakness. Then you will describe how schools and our education system can use the multiple intelligences theory in planning curriculum to address many different student’s styles of learning and the many intelligences.

Make certain to:

Describe your initial thoughts on the multiple intelligences theory. (1-2 sentences)

Explain which of the 8 types of intelligence is your strength and which is your weakness. (1-2 sentences)

Give an example of how the multiple intelligences theory can be used in schools to address different student’s strengths and weaknesses in the many intelligences. Think about what kinds of lessons would have benefitted you in school based on your mainly your weaknesses in the 8 types of intelligence. What specific lessons or curriculum would have been beneficial for you? Explain how and why. (3-4 sentences)

Example:

After watching this video, my intital thought is that it is very interesting. I found it really fascinating that we can all have different types of intelligence and be particularly strong in one while not being as intelligent in another. Of the 8 different types of intelligence that are described in the multiple intelligence theory, my strength is really with interpersonal intelligence and my weakness is linguistic intelligence. We already have a core standard in reading and writing in school. This, however, is achieved by reading very specific works and teaching writting in a very limited way. I think I would have benefitted specifically from learning more creative writing. I think that if schools gave me the opportunity to do more creative writing and gave students the opportunity to learn how to expand their imagination and their thoughts using writing as a medium, that might have helped my linguistic intelligence grow.

Ask for clarification (that is, ask questions) if needed.

Respond to at least two of your classmates about 2-3 sentences with how their ideas may have helped you when you were in school.
