Can you help me understand this English question?
Your journal entry should be about 200 words long, and you need to respond to at least one (1) other student’s posts with a few sentences discussing what they wrote about. *Note: If you have questions for me, contact me specifically–don’t just write them in this journal.
We’ve been looking at Alter’s TED Talk this week, and you’ve read a bit about rhetorical tools and the rhetorical situation.
1) What’s the topic of your paper?
2 ) The main thing I want you to write about this week is your audience. Who are you going to target as you write your paper and give your speech?
Some things to think about as you describe them are:
- age range
- education level
- knowledge of a particular topic/subject
- political beliefs
- gender
- stage in life (adult w/o kids, w/ kids, young adult, etc)
- religious beliefs
- geographic location
- preferred method of argumentation (do appeals to logos, pathos, or ethos sway them more)
3) As you think about these things, and describe your intended audience, start to think about the types of evidence and strategies you’ll use to convince them of your argument. Tell us about some of those rhetorical tools you think you’ll use.
