Diet Analysis Project- 100 points (IN WORD DOC OR PDF) (3 PAGES MINIMUM)

This assignment is all about YOUR diet. The point of this assignment is to analyze what you would normally eat and drink in order to determine your nutritional status. Once you know your nutrient deficiencies and excesses, you’ll know what dietary changes you need to make to be healthier.

Assignment Details:

  • Write a 3-page (double- spaced) critique/essay of your results from the analysis. In this critique/essay, discuss what nutrients you were deficient or excessive in. Discuss how you can improve or change your diet to meet your needs better. Example: deficient in calcium you would discuss what foods include or increase in your diet to improve your intake of calcium rich foods dairy products, green leafy vegetables, tofu and almonds. Please list all references used for this critique.

The finished assignment should include 3 parts:

Part 1: Neatly typed 3-day food and beverage record/log (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)

Part 2: Two reports from the diet analysis software-nutrition facts and actual vs. recommended (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)

Part 3: 3-page critique (essay) of your dietary analysis results. Critique needs to include:

    • Review what nutrients you are deficient or excessive in (hint: you can find this data in the actual vs. recommend intake report). (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)
    • Expand on what foods you can incorporate into you diet to increase your intake of your deficient nutrients and what foods you may need to reduce to lower your intake of certain nutrients. (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)
    • Discuss if you met your needs for calcium, iron, fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin D, and how you can improve in your diet , what foods would you increase or decrease? (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)
    • Review sodium, saturated fat and sugar intake (more or less than the recommendations?)- how can you decrease your intake of these (what foods would you limit or avoid)? (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF)
    • Review what your actual Kcal intake was vs. what your recommendation was (INFO PROVIDED IN PDF) RECOMMENDED CALORIES: 2380. INTAKE: 1839
    • Discuss what your goal was: maintain, lose or gain (THE GOAL WAS TO MAINTAIN WIEGHT)
    • Discuss if this assignment was beneficial for you and what you have learned from it (YOU CAN SAY ANYTHING RELEVANT HERE)

Grading Rubric: 100 points

  • Typed 3-day food log- including food measurements, and amounts: (10 points)
  • Diet Analysis Reports: 2 reports need to be included: (total of 20 points)
    • Actual vs Recommended intake (10 points)
    • Nutrition Facts (10 points)
  • 3-page critique (essay) with references/ sources: (70 points)
  • Introduction, body and conclusion: 15 points
  • References (cite at least 2 sources, you can use your class text book for one of the sources): 10 points
  • Discussing Nutrient intake (sodium, saturated fat, macronutrient and micronutrient intake): 40 points
  • Spelling/ grammar: 5 points
  • **Papers that are less than 3-pages will have points deducted
