In Weeks 1, 3, and 4 of this course, you will complete Journal Assignments,
which encourage you to consider insights you have gained during the
week and how these insights apply to your dissertation research process
within your specific program of study. Only your Instructor will see
your Journal entries. This week’s Journal focuses on exploring social
problems that interest you and considering a research problem you may be
interested in pursuing based on gaps you may have discovered in the
literature you have reviewed.
To prepare for this week’s Journal submission:
- Consider the differences between a social problem and a research
problem as this is applied within your specific program of study. - Review the Guide to Academic Journaling.
- Review this week’s media resources.
- Review the grading rubric located in the Course Information area of
the course for information regarding how your Journal entries will be
evaluated.
For your first Journal entry, respond to the following:
What social problems are you interested in
pursuing for your dissertation research study? For one of these social
problems, what research problem might be appropriate based on the
literature you have reviewed?
