Formation of Government Project Instructions
Now that you know the exciting facts about how an election works in Canada, it is time to investigate a topic that will matter to you in the next few years as you come of age to vote: the issue of youth voting in Canada. There is concern that young people in Canada are not turning out to vote. According to the website mapleleafweb.com, only 25% of eligible voters aged 18-24 voted in the 2000 federal election. This has lead to the formation of groups like Rock the Vote, created to encourage young voters to cast a ballot.
Your task for this assignment is to come up with a plan to encourage people under age 24 to vote. Create a poster, brochure or Powerpoint (or another format that you choose) to encourage young people to vote.
You project must:
- Be visually appealing to catch the eye of your target audience, and use appropriate graphics for your target audience (people under 24)
- Include at least 3 reasons why it is important for young people to vote. Think about what would persuade you to vote. Use specific examples of issues that affect young people in particular, such as the hgh cost of post-secondary education.
- Be edited so there are few errors in the text – have someone else read it for you if you can.
- Include in it somewhere the sources of your images and information
