Operations managers are faced constantly with decisions involving quality in all aspects of operations. The first action you should take is to research and define “quality”. Be specific; you can research the Malcolm Baldridge Award as a potential source for an explanation of quality. A question for your research might be: is the product or service of quality as well as a fit for the customer’s use? Fitness for use is related to benefits received by the customer and to customer satisfaction. Only the customer, not the producer, can determine it.
