Discussion Assignment Instructions

Discussion are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, you are required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. The frequency of your participation and the depth of the content that you write will affect your grade. Use the appropriate Discussion Grading Rubric to improve the quality of your contributions. The purpose of the Discussions are to generate interaction among candidates in regard to current course topics.

For Discussion: How Difficult Can This Be – The F.A.T. City Workshop

  • You will post one initial thread of at least 400 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned module. The initial post should demonstrate course-related knowledge and must support his/her assertions with at least two scholarly citations in current APA format.
  • You must then post two replies of at least 200 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday (GR) of the assigned module For each reply thread, you must support your assertions with at least one scholarly citation in current APA format. Acceptable sources include course readings, special education peer reviewed research journals, the Bible, etc. (MLO: B, C, D)

For Discussion: Reflection

  • You will post one initial thread of at least 400 words by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Friday of the assigned module. The initial post should demonstrate course-related knowledge and must support his/her assertions with at least two scholarly citations in current APA format.
  • No replies are required.

THREADS:

  • Must be at least 400 words.
  • Should thoroughly address the topic prompt, using citations as appropriate.
  • Utilize 2 sources (e.g. textbook, journal articles, Bible verses) and include 2 separate in-text current APA citations to support your thoughts and ideas.
  • A reference list of sources should be included in current APA style at the end of the post. (The Bible should NOT be included in the reference list.)

REPLIES:

  • Must post at least two 200-word replies to your classmates per forum.
  • Include 1 in-text current APA citation to support your thoughts and ideas; a reference list should be included at the end of each post.
  • Should expand upon the questions or ideas expressed in your classmates’ threads by adding new ideas to points that you agree with and/or explaining areas of disagreement.  Please note that responses such as “I like what you said,” “That’s a good point,” and “I disagree with your comment,” do not count as complete responses.  Instead, add substantial supporting thoughts or ideas to elucidate why you agreed with the original post, or provide alternative ideas and thoughts to demonstrate why you disagreed.
  • Should be posted intermittently throughout the forum.  Do not complete all the replies at one time; instead, allow for conversation to develop by posting multiple times throughout the week.
  • Should title the subject line of replies as “Reply to John Smith,” or “Reply to Jane Doe,” so it will be clear to whom you are responding.
