- Students must compose a final paper approximately 10 pages in length (APA Style). Each student will select an airport of their choosing (Orlando International Airport- MCO) and do a deep dive into the management of that airport, including revenue drivers, equipment and personnel needs, aviation, and growth and development projections for the next 5-10 years.
- Structure of the paper: introduction, topics and subtopic, conclusion. include citations and references page.
Some Useful starting points include
- History of the airfield, size of the airfield, runways, and lengths, which ADG and TDG does the airport fall into and why?
- Ownership of the airport, has this changed over the history of the airfield?
- The number of employees, how many are employed by the airport authority, how many are third-party employees.
- Airlines serving the airport and since when.
- Any significant construction or expansion projects in its history?
- Any significant accidents or incidents? If so, what changes resulted from that?
- ATC tower, FAA, or contract tower?
- What type of terminal system does the airport utilize, why?
- Fuel delivery method- pipeline, farm, hydrant system? Any issues with fuel systems in the past?
- What is the mix of traffic to the airport, percentage of GA, Commercial, Cargo, military?
- What environmental concerns does that airport have to consider?
