You roll play a mid-size police department training academy director and come up with a brand new idea (!) for a brand new 40 hour training block that you’ve been given permission to build into your current 20 week academy (space, faculty, time, etc.) by your Chief.
This new block needs to
1) address an emerging or current policing issue that you believe is not being addressed properly or sufficiently at present,
2) help cadets ‘think out of the box’ and see their profession and your core issue in a new way, 3) present content effectively and creatively to maximize cadet learning,
4) fit seamlessly into the overall syllabus (cadets understand how it links to other topics and its significance on its own as well. One clue- titles mean a great deal to cops (think ‘shoot-don’t shoot’, ‘pursuit driving techniques’, ‘active shooter’, etc.).
So once you have your concept clearly in mind, come up with a catchy title for it too!
