First Response Paper, Due September 24th: Columbian Exchange
The Colombian exchange is a central framing conception of the Atlantic World in the Age of Sail. However, it did not affect individuals within the Atlantic (European, African, Americans) in the same way. Understanding how Columbian Exchange affected differed peoples is key to understanding the Atlantic World after Europeans and Africans came to the Americas. In a two-page double spaced essay, compare and contrast how this exchange might have affected a Native American standing on the banks of the Mississippi near Cahokia who has never had contact with western Europeans with a British subject in central England who has never had contact with Native Americans.
