Final Proposal

In our final work week together you will be piecing together your final proposal. Below are some key components and helpful information that you should review thoroughly to ensure that your paper is complete and is of good quality.

The final proposal is DUE BY FRIDAY, MAY 1ST, 11:59 PM

  1. Research Proposal Project (75 points)

Synthesizing Your Research Proposal (75 points)

DUE IN CANVAS BY FRIDAY, MAY 1ST AT 11:59 PM

At this point you have three documents – an introduction, a literature review and an outline of a research plan. Working from this final outline, complete the final Methods section. Use the examples provided in this week’s module to help guide you. The purpose of this assignment is to provide you the opportunity to merge these three completed documents into a single document. It should not exceed 15 pages.

A research proposal, sometimes called a prospectus, is the first three sections of a research report – the introduction, the literature review and the methods sections. In an academic environment a research prospectus would be presented to a thesis or dissertation committee. If the committee agrees with the researcher’s plan then they may approve the student to complete the research project. The functional equivalent of this routinely occurs in criminal justice practice. Often practitioners are asked to offer proposals for conducting agency sponsored research or to secure the necessary resources for the agency.

Given the feedback provided from earlier assignments, please merge and rewrite if necessary, your introduction, literature review and research plan (Methods) into a single document in the form of a research proposal.

Two issues in particular that I will be looking at include:

  1. The extent to which your introduction, literature review, and methods are congruent. For example, your literature review should be relevant to your research question and the methods should produce the steps necessary to answer your research question. This may require extensive revision.
  2. The readability of your manuscript. The information should be well organized.

There is also a rubric which is provided in the module that will help give you additional ideas regarding the necessary objectives for your final assignment. It should go without mentioning, but this is a comprehensive and high stakes assignment, as is reflected in the number of points that it is worth. It will require your time to put together a sound proposal. Please let me know if you have any questions.
