Prompt: Imagine you have been selected, by the Dean, to present in person to the new Fowler College of Business Sophomore class, approximately 3,500 students. The Dean asked you to describe in one paragraph, in your own words (no direct quotes from the book, Janette, or the Internet – you can paraphrase – but it has to be clear its in your own words) “what is organizational behavior and how does it apply to today’s business?”
One (1) paragraph includes
- One (1) strong topic sentence – one controlling idea. 5 points
- Two (2) – Six (6) short, powerful supporting sentences that provides data, examples, explanations, or information about your topic sentence (don’t introduce new topics in the supporting sentences). 10 points
- One (1) conclusion sentence that concludes the paragraph (don’t introduce a new topic in the conclusion). 5 points
- Therefore, you should have no more than eight (8) sentences in total. 20 points total
Proof read, proof read, proof read. And oh by the way, proof read or better yet have someone else proof read. 🙂

What Janette is looking for when she is grading?
- Effective communication – write a good paragraph
- Critical thinking – share your ideas – not just repeat what others say
- Ability to analyze and synthesis information – demonstrate how you interpret information
- Knowledge about the business essentials – you’re going to be a terrific manager – so you need to know how Org Behavior impacts the business.
