Part 1
For this exercise, you will utilize the interactive map to identify some of the most notable correctional facilities globally. Focus on the country where you have made a contact. What are some of the most important current and historic correctional facilities in their country? On the map, mark as many correctional facilities in that country that you feel are notable. Some smaller countries may only have one or two facilities of note while larger countries may have many more so in that case pick only a few of the most important ones.
Mark the location using a police icon in dark blue (RGB 1, 87, 155).
For each facility that you mark, include at least the following:
Basic information about the facility.
A picture of the facility (if possible).
- Information about why it is notable.
- Consider also including a brief quote from your foreign contact about the specific facility.
- As an example, if someone focused on the United States for their country, some examples may include:
- Alcatraz Island Prison – San Francisco, California (video tour)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjVTJez9c6k (Links to an external site.)

Rikers Island Prison – New York City
The United States Disciplinary Barracks – Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
- ADX Florence Facility – Florence, Colorado
The above facilities are marked on the the World Map in the United States and can be used as a model for your locations.
Once you have marked the locations, provide a list of the locations you marked as a submission for this assignment below.
Part 2
The new warden has asked that Excelsior Management Consultants conduct a SWOT analysis of the existing prison structure of two (2) of the prisons you discussed in the previous assignment (M2.2.). The SWOT analysis method examines strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats being commonly used. The analysis helps to examine the internal and external factors affecting an organization (Bohm, 2009, p. 2).

ASSIGNMENT
First, conduct a SWOT analysis of the existing prison structure in your contact’s country (Austratlia) as indicated above. As discussed, some unintended consequences of mass incarnation globally have caused prisons that are aimed for low-security inmates to become quarters for a large number of inmates who are perhaps more violent.
- Next, in a well-written 500-word essay, identify and discuss 5 priorities for each country’s prison system based on your SWOT analysis of the two respective systems.
