Groups wouldn’t resort to using terrorist tactics unless they worked, to some degree, that is. In this discussion, we explore the effectiveness of terrorism as a tool and a tactic, and what might lead some groups to select different methods to accomplish their goals.

Respond to the following:

For this discussion, compose your response (300-400 words in length) to the following questions and post it to the discussion forum. When creating your response make sure you are including the factors that make international terrorism such a popular tool or method, compare and contrast why different groups at different times would have different motives for engaging in violence and what these motives tell us about their potential activities, strengths and weaknesses, and identify elements of gender-selective political violence and criminal dissident terrorism.

1. Does terrorism “work?” Does the decision to use violence ever result in the group’s accomplishing (or not accomplishing) its goals? Compare and contrast an example of each.
2. Why do some groups/individuals choose to use violence rather than non-violent means? Compare and contrast two groups: one that started non-violently and then turned to violence. The other group should be one that started violently, but then embraced non-violence.

In your original post, provide the reasoning behind your opinions and statements so that we can see the flow of your thinking. Your posting should cover each of the topics above. One large post is sufficient to cover these topics, as opposed to multiple posts for each. Also, please reference and cite the ideas from at least one of the articles you read for this module. Part B – 

For this discussion, we will focus on violence against women from a terroristic perspective.

Respond to the following:

For this discussion, compose your response (300-400 words in length) to the following questions and post it to the discussion forum, systematic violence against women.  Begin your response by Articulating the differences between Radical terrorism and Reactionary terrorism and then address the following:

1. What are the causes of systematic violence against women?
2. Explain whether systematic violence against women is it likely to occur more often in socio-political environments than others?
3. What are some of the psychological differences in individuals willing to murder innocents to further their own goals? Discuss what psychological traits that might differentiate people who are more likely to join a violent organization?
