I’m working on a English question and need guidance to help me study.
Describe briefly the evidence which you intend to use in your Advocacy Letter, and the appeal you plan to use–to ethos (expert sources), pathos (emotional appeal), or logos (facts, numbers, and statistics). You have to choose an stakeholder first and then describe the evidence. We have to choose the stakeholder based on my annotated bibliography and the Synthesis Grid.
What kind of evidence will you use? That evidence will include sources from your Annotated Bibliography, but it might include other sources too.
For example, a student whose research question was about the problem of police brutality might choose to address her letter to the police commissioner of a large city with a history of police brutality. She would plan to use evidence of some policies which had been effective in other cities in reducing police brutality. She would urge the police commissioner to adopt those policies to make policing more effective and more fair in the city where he is commissioner.
Would the evidence the student presents use expert voices who have done research or worked in policing (appeals to ethos)? Or talk about shocking examples of police brutality, like the murder of George Floyd (appeals to pathos)? Or offer statistics about how cities which have started using body cams have reduced unwarranted police violence against citizens (appeals to logos)?
