Topic: Transhumanism

Thread: Read the chapter “Should We Reject the Transhumanist Goal of the Genetically Electronically and Mechanically Enhanced Human Being?” in the Science and Society course textbook, starting on page 454.

Transhumanism is alternation of the human body by genetic alteration, tissue regeneration, or machine enhancement. It is being increasingly viewed as a way to cure disease and reverse physical handicaps. Some futurists believe it is a way to promote the next level of human evolution.

This chapter is taken from a book series on ethics called Taking Sides. In this assignment, you will be asked to choose a side and defend your position. In at least 300 words, compose a thread that takes the side of either McNamee and Edwards, who reject transhumanism, or Maxwell Mehlman, who supports transhumanism. Give evidence to support your position and include 1 citation from the Bible and 1 from another source other than your text.
