Evaluation Essay Instructions
Purpose
To evaluate yourself or your instructor (You must choose.)
To demonstrate your ability to organize and develop and academic-style essay
Assignment
Compose a two-page essay in which you evaluate yourself as a student in ENGL
1301 or Professor Andrade as an instructor.
A complete evaluation must include both positives AND negatives, but the essay
should be driven by objective information/details. Pull from your own experiences
to support your points.
NOTES:
Your thesis should identify all points on which you will base your
evaluation.

Thesis example: While Dr. Andrade struggles to return grades in a
timely manner, overall she is a good teacher in ENGL 1301 because
she is organized and gives good feedback to her students.
You must have THREE supporting points.
o
Topics based on thesis above: 1) returning grades, 2) organization, 3)
feedback.
You must have a mostly positive or mostly negative evaluation. (2 pros + 1
con OR 2 cons + 1 pro)
Your body paragraphs will be based on specific qualities you are evaluating
and that you’ve identified as either pros or cons.
Audience
Your audience for this assignment will be you and your instructor.
Constraints
