In one to three pages, discuss your approach to poetry. In Chapter 18, the poets’ statements about poetry can be really helpful here. You might want to explore your fears about poetry, your prejudices against it, what you have liked and not liked about it in the past, or why you love it. Please also discuss why you think poetry is (or is not) important in a society that is increasingly connected by commerce and technology. Finally, address the challenges of paraphrasing a poem and if coming to understand a poem is worth the trouble it takes!
