Your essay will address the following: Vividly describe a fictional character, a living or dead historical figure (not a family member or friend) or a creative work (in the form of art, music, literature, film, or architecture) that has influenced you. Structure your essay as follows: 1. An introductory paragraph that begins with an effective “hook” and contains a clear thesis statement. 2. Body paragraphs that do the following: Describe vividly the character, person, or work you have chosen as your focus – Explain in depth how he, she or it has influenced you 3. A concluding paragraph that provides closure for your ideas without merely restating your thesis statement. Connecting your conclusion to the hook in your introduction can be a helpful strategy.
