An
employee handbook is an important communication tool between you and
your employees. A well-written handbook will establish the rights and
obligations of employees. It also should describe your legal obligations
as an employer as well as the expectations of employers. A
poorly-written handbook can create more problems than it prevents.

LCB
Hotel has determined that some sections of its employee handbook need
to be updated. Members of the group will decide how to assign the
different sections of the employee manual. Be sure to address the
following:

• Equal employment and nondiscrimination policies (hiring, promotion, and termination)
• Americans with Disabilities Act
• Surveillance in the workplace (including the use of e-mail and hotel computers)
• Drug testing

Note: There will be 2 additional sections that will be added by the group in the group portion:

• General policies and procedures

group should then collate the examples and present preventive measures
for each example to incorporate into a training manual.

Group Project Forum

This
Discussion Forum is an area for the completion of your Group Project,
both the individual and group components. In addition to the general
discussion of the group, there are requirements as outlined below to
demonstrate the group participation of each member.

Although the
forum is used for general discussion and collaboration, the following
two sections must be completed to receive credit. Your participation in
this forum is directly related to the grade that you will receive in the
Group Project.

Part 1: Individual Member Posting

Within the Discussion Forum area, post the following:

You
are required to post your individual portion of the group project to
the forum. This individual portion will demonstrate your involvement and
will be incorporated into your grade. You should address the following
specific portions of the employee manual:

responsive comment to each individual portion regarding any additions,
changes, or deletions that should be made for the employee manual.

Group Portion

Within
the Discussion Forum area, each member of the group must provide
suggestions for the mission statement, general policies, and procedures. The
group should then collate the suggestions for the employee manual,
including additional suggestions or comments from group members, and
incorporate into the employee manual. The group must then add the
following:

• General policies and procedures
