QUESTION 1

Briefly define all four major regulatory options that we studied in Chapter 8 and provide an example of each of the four types of statutes that the Congressional Committee could propose regarding glyphosate. Which of the four statutes would you recommend the Committee adopt? Why?

QUESTION 2

Assume that you are the municipal official in charge of implementing regulations for landfills in the City of Evansville.

Using any two of the policy approaches in the regulatory toolkit that we studied in Chapter 3, give two examples of regulations that could be used to address volume and composition issues with Watto’s landfill and discuss why you believe these examples are appropriate choices.

(3a) Briefly define the environmental justice framework. Next, discuss the relevance of environmental justice to the Haitian delegation’s decision on what international regulations to propose to the COP regarding climate change and greenhouse gas reductions. Be sure to address the implications of Haiti’s location and economy.

(3b) Briefly define any two of the policy approaches in the regulatory toolkit from Chapter 3 and identify twogreenhouse gas regulations (one from each of the two approaches you defined) that the Haitian delegation could propose to the COP that all countries should be required to adopt. In your recommendations, be sure to include a discussion of why those two regulations would be important for the Haitian people.
