Katelynn said: A persona is a fictional person developed to act as a representation of your business’s ideal customer” (Matelski, 2019). Some essential elements to creating a persona are to give it a name so that it feels real, giving it an occupation and average salary, including its demographics, giving the persona goals for their business and website, challenges the persona may have, their values, turnoffs in sales, and the ideal marketing message. (Matelski, 2019).

Some demographic factors that are the basis of how customers are grouped and categorized are gender, age, location, education level, and family information. This allows for a company to gather analytics on who their target market is and then cater towards that market.

Currently I am employed at a soda shop. The key demographics that we cater too are location, age, and family background. Our majority of customers are of the LDS faith so most of the locations we have are in areas of a high LDS population. Locations may be near their temples and in Arizona most of our locations are in the Queen Creek- Gilbert Area. We also are a family business and cater towards reaching the family. We offer drink combinations and cookies that the kids will enjoy but also offer all the mix ins that fuel a mothers caffeine need.

Deann said: A user persona is a thorough fictional representation of each user type motivated by true data revealing their behaviors, motivations, and goals. Your persona is how a person behaves and their goals. Personas are particularly useful in prioritizing which aspects to include and what not to your product. Creating data-driven personas to correspond to your user types is a keyway to learn what’s important to your users and to understand their needs (MacPherson, 2019).

The data gathered to create a persona is essential to understanding their needs. Demographics is described as statistical data relating to the populace and the various groups within. Different factors can make up demographics, age, ethnicity, location, salary, education, etc. groups such as, lifestyle, interests, language, location where people are coming from. Some of the groups can pull reports for a particular group, for example Facebook. Facebook you can pull a People Report and a Post Report that can breakdown how many are female, male and age. Many of the different types of data analytics can be found from social media, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, the goal of competitive analysis is to find out who you need to research and gather data (Lincoln, 2016).

Demographic factors such as gender, age, education and experience have a major impact on business success. Every business will have different needs. For a business in Financial Services the demographics may need to focus on consumers and business owners who are in a higher income range and who are interested in increasing their funds. This customer will generally be older than 40, have a higher level of education and more likely be employed. You can start relationships on social media, but you will gain more trust with an newsletters or videos of what your services offer (Jacobsen, 2019).

Nanci said: There are many stages of personas within a company’s development process first you must ask the questions like the name, occupation, demographics, goals, challenges, values, turnoffs, ideal marketing message are the main essential elements to creating a persona for a general view of what you believe would be your ideal customer. This is essential to draw attention to your company’s products and services. MacPherson (2019) state that “Using data-driven personas to inform decision-making ensures that the development process is focused on your users, increasing the likelihood of building something they’ll love”.

Define the key demographic factors that are the basis of how customers are grouped and categorized.

Once you have decided the market of which you are trying to persuade or lure into your product or services, you can start to use the demographic factors that will allow you to group your customers are based upon things like age, sex, religion, political views, hobbies and interests. Once you have determined these you can then separating them into priority groups of which you might appeal to the most. Once you have done this you can create a persona that will best fit their needs and wants.

Which of these factors are most important for your business?

For my business I think that age, sex, hobbies and interests are the most important for my business it allows me to narrow it down to the direct source of customers’ needs for my products. Without those 4, I believe you would never truly attract clientele.

Brandon said: A persona, otherwise known as a “buyer persona” is the basic background information about your audience or your target demographic if you will. Essential elements such as name, gender, age, occupation, location, description, personality traits, and goals are all things that help bring the persona to life (Tetreault, 2019). The more information in the personas, the easier it is to understand your target audience and how to sell to/connect with them.

Customers are mainly categorized by age, gender, ethnicity, income, level of education, religion, occupation, family structure, etc (Thomas, n.d.). Breaking down target demographics into a few of these categories allows for business to know the exact kind of people that are MOST interested in their product or service.

Age, income, level of education, and occupation are the main categories that would be most important to my business. Knowing the clients’ ages, occupations, and how much money they are making can prove to be very beneficial in terms of continuing business with existing clients, as well as starting new business with potential ones.

QUESTION 2: Review a current product or service in the market and describe its target market. Generate a persona for this company’s primary target market.

Kenneth Willard said: The product/service that I chose is Ring alarm system. Ring LLC is a home security and smart home company owned by Amazon. Ring manufactures home security products that incorporate outdoor motion-detecting cameras, including Ring Video Doorbell. It hosts an app, Neighbors, for online social sharing of captured footage among users. Ring also provides video footage from its cameras and data from its Neighbors app to law enforcement agencies on request, Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (wikipedia.org). I chose this product because I will be buying my first home this December. And the Ring alarm systems was one of me and my wife’s number 1 things to get once we get our home. We currently stay in a condo in what we thought was a good area but nothing never good. And if its is don’t stay that way for long but a lot of issues around the area at times with us having to protect ourselves. Especially since we have two daughters, we want to ensure that they are safe. With the ring system will be able to do feel safe and more secure knowing we have an alarm system, notion cameras, sensers and more. in place to protect and prevent and issues or harm to my home our family. The targeted market would be families and home or business owners in need of safe, reliable and easy to use products and services from Ring.

As I mentioned the Ring alarm system is great and targets more families and business specially ones purchasing a new home. Having that peace and mind that your family, goods and more is safe and secure takes a lot of stress and relieve off one’s shoulders. For insistence most families coming from a rough area are not used to having much security or protection around to keep them safe from harm or and issues in the area. So, to be able to relocate and move your family into a home and overall better situation. Along with the ability to obtain better security to protect your family, goods and more from harm is a blessing by itself. As I mentioned although we stay in a gated community my wife still likes to put a chair in front of the door to feel safe. But we do that along with other protective measure to stay prepared and safe from issues outside. Because with all of the craziness in the world today you just never know, and you have to be on your toes and ready for anything

William said: The first bicycle came around in a rough definition in 1817 by a German Baron by the name of Karl von Drais (Miller, D. 2021). Since it’s invention it has only been improved upon and has since had even electric parts mounted to it along with many more moving parts. Some of the modern day bicycles need as much maintainence per 100 miles as a vehicle, even more expensive as well depending on the type of bicycle you ride. Originally, the bicycle was designed as an alternative method of transportation but has evolved into sport as well as general recreation. All ages are targetted but again, depending the style as well as make, different demographics of the market will define the targets.
Mountain biking , depending on the type targets ages between 18-44 (AddTargetting). Primary target for gender are males although, females do make up about 20% of the mountain biking community. Location is a primary concern for mountain biking manufacturers as if there are no trails to ride, or down hill places to start from, business won’t be as good.
From personal experiences, most of the mountain biking community is comprised of a vast array of ages, races, genders and careers. Obviously, most well off individuals have purchased very expensive mountain bikes, while others have sacrifised a little bit in order to have a higher end model. Exercise rarely seems to be a concern as the majority of individuals that I have met and conversed with do it for the love of out doors, the adrenaline of that quick down hill, the sport as well as the recreational piece of just getting out. Based off of personal observation, the majority of riders are generally physically fit, ages 20-38, male, hispanic and caucasion, generally well paid (that’s based off the bike and the vehicle getting them to the trailhead), extraverts, and are very active in outdoor activities.
