1/ Discussion; Sample Student Argument Essay and the Final Paper Copy

Please discuss the The Handmaid’s Tale and all this semester’s films.

  • Your initial response should be 100-200 words in length, reflecting on the prompt above.

Week 8 Argument Paper

Your final paper will be an argument based on one of three approaches:

  • You can expand your analysis into a longer argument regarding the novel or film you analyzed; this would make your final paper an extended literary research paper.
  • You can expand your synthesis into a longer argument regard a contentious contemporary issue; this would make your final paper an extended real-world research paper.
  • You can expand and connect both of your first two papers into a hybrid paper that deals with both fiction and reality, but ultimately becomes an argument about a real life issue (that happens to also be found in fiction).

Please watch the PowerPoint on the Argument paper closely. Note, this final paper may use significant portions of either or both of the first two papers, but DO NOT simply try to cut and splice the two papers together in the middle or just add pages to one of them.

Guidelines

  • Your assignment submission should be 15 pages in length
  • You should use 15 sources
  • You should use MLA style
