For this discussion post, create and post your Analytical/ Research Essay thesis statement. Remember that your thesis has to be clear, direct, and complex.
It should contain your position on the issue you are arguing about, a qualification, and a premise or premises/ reason or reasons.
For example, if I were to write about Pollan’s “Unhappy Meals,” my thesis statement could look like this:
“Although American culture today puts extraordinary emphasis on healthy eating (qualification), it still promotes a culture of quick weight loss by intentionally advertising and, in some cases, mislabeling certain “health foods” (position) as Pollan argues in his text “Unhappy Meals (what text you are basing your argument on).” When we are confused by such deceptive labeling practices by some food companies, we sometimes struggle to make truly healthy food choices (premise/ reason).”
I hope that this example helps, but remember that this is just an example!
However, also remember that this is a “flexible” thesis statement (thesis that you will adjust/ change/ revise as you draft your essay) and not a “fixed” one, so you can change or add to it is as you continue to draft your essay.

I think the number one threat that weighs down on the gastronomic system is ‘modernity’, which affects the way we choose food in that it collectively and individually modifies time management. Mostly production and distribution systems can be blamed, but also sourcing methods, which tend to radically change any form of culinary identity. In this context, we need to provide greater support and preserve traditional foods.
Food quality does not depend on the ingredients but on their organoleptic properties, cooking method and standards that must meet principles related to history, culture and quality of cultivation. Indeed, culinary identity is founded on subjective elements such as climate, soil, and land as well as a range of questions related to culture, society, and community history, not to mention individual skills. Favored by a temperate climate and with peasant and artisan roots, the communities in the Mediterranean region were able to maintain a gastronomic identity that is part of a multiple and complex lifestyle to this day.(1)
In order to exploit these complexities, it is necessary to show a deep respect for the customs of the indigenous people, and even if there is a slight change in the way of cooking and eating traditional food, this is not a problem as we saw in the article of Lily Wong, who spoke about her Chinese heritage about traditional food due to the fact that she changed the way she eats dumplings, despite the change in the way food and how she feels, but she retained the traditional food she eats, despite eating it in a different way from traditional customs.
student 2) As our carbon footprint is increasing and climate change is becoming an even greater reality, we need to find ways to become more sustainable. One of many ways that we can involve sustainability in our lives is by eating more plant-based meals throughout our weeks. Now how will incorporating more plants in our diet help decrease our carbon footprints? Simple. In a report from the World Health Organization says, “Reducing livestock herds would also reduce emissions of methane, which is the second largest contributor to global warming after carbon dioxide.” But also keep in mind that shifting to a plant-based diet not only helps with saving our planet but it will also improve your health.
